One of the earlier airport lounges developed by No1, Stansted provided an ideal opportunity for the company to test many of their commercial ideas in a compact setting.

 

The small size of the lounge meant that the lounge has a single open plan space, much different to its larger sibling lounges at Heathrow and Gatwick.   The challenge of the project then became how to subdivide the space to provide some sense of privacy for the individual groups while maintaining the overall sense of openness.

 

Tall backed banquettes provided such division in a useful and unobtrusive way.   No1's signature material palette worked quite successfully in this bright and airy setting, with luxurious walnut and stone tiling combining well with vivid pastel colours to provide a lively yet calm setting.
