The area of Shoreditch High Street is continuing to benefit from a period of regeneration and many of its traditional East End commercial properties are gaining a new lease of life through commercial development.
Lipton’s former tea warehouse, the Tea Building, has been renovated into a creative hub on Shoreditch High Street. Inside Out were appointed to renovate and fit-out one of the floors and transform the once industrial warehouse into commercial office space.
The design for the utilisation of space was kept clean and simple, taking advantage and embellishing the existing industrial layout and structure. Continuing the industrial approach, exposed concrete contrasts beautifully with modern office furniture and the visible building services continue as a reminder of its commercial heritage.
Other design features employed by Inside Out is the retro brickwork tiling throughout the floor level together with the use of industrial strip-lighting which perfectly lights the existing warehouse pillars, creating a light and bold office space. The Tea Building is a functional office space for the modern commercial business which continues to draw on its industrial fabric and legacy.
